5K Buddies:  We recommend that every girl have a 5K Buddy to accompany her on event day. A 5K Buddy is any trusted person 16+, who can run/walk/skip alongside their girl and cheer her on through this day of accomplishment. A 5K buddy can be a parent, grandparent, teacher, family, friend, favorite babysitter - anyone 16+ your girl knows and trusts!  All 5K buddies need to register for the 5K.

General Registration:  Our 5K is open to all!  We invite all runners and walkers to join us for the 5K. Ask other family members, siblings and friends to join us also!  All 5K Buddies, parents and friends participating in the 5K on the course must register.  The registration fee is $30 for adult 5K Buddies/Community Runners and $15 for youth runners (13 years of age or younger). 5K Etiquette:  This is a non-competitive event and we encourage all runners to go their “happy pace.”  To keep the course clear for all, we ask slower runners and walkers to stay to the right, leaving room for other runners to pass.

Pets are not allowed at American Family Field. We have a large number of youth attending our event. For everyone's safety, please leave pets at home. Thank you!

Volunteers help ensure our end of season 5K celebration is possible. There are many ways you can see our mission in action.

We need volunteers for the following activities to ensure our event is a success:

  • Event set up and clean up
  • Welcome Team
  • Registration
  • Kids' Activities
  • Start/Finish Line Cheerleaders
  • Finish Line Refreshments

Have a corporate or community group looking to volunteer together? Email stephanie.endsley@girlsontherun.org  for more information.

Note: All volunteers appointed through our council will undergo a background check.

The course for a 5K is 3.1 miles.

As a reminder, this is a fun, celebratory event for our participants and not a competitive race. While our fastest 5K participants will complete the course in 25 minutes, most cross the finish line in 30-50 minutes. Everyone who participates is encouraged to walk, roll, push, run or skip at their happy pace!

First, we understand that life happens, and circumstance might make it impossible to attend.

We strongly encourage that all participants attend and complete the 5K, as it is the goal that teams are preparing for all season long! It’s the ultimate opportunity to build confidence through accomplishment. Remember, this is the first 5K event for many – including coaches, participants, friends and family members. We are in it together!

For safety reasons, every participant must wear a bib. Our council ensures every participant has a running buddy, and only critical 5K volunteers have access to confidential information.

To ensure every participant crosses the finish line, we monitor the course and conduct head counts. Our council has a safety plan in place, which trains staff and volunteers on how to respond during an emergency or incident.

Yes. Girls on the Run 5K events are for everyone! All participants can walk, run, push or roll safely and at their own happy pace. Designated parking spots are available. For questions regarding accomodations, please reach out to program@girlsontherunsoutheasternwi.org.
